“Dark Knight” trailer fails to impress…

December 19th, 2007 by Michael Ferraro

So the trailer for the new Batman film, entitled Dark Knight, has been up for a few days now (click here). Everyone is e-mailing me or IM’ing me about how pumped up they are. Now, I wasn’t entirely impressed with the last Batman outing (Batman Begins), as they raped the best villain in Batman history (Scarecrow), but I had a feeling the sequel would improve on all its failures.

The I Am Legend screening I went to had the trailer attached to the film. I watched with some reserved excitement, and, well, it felt like the last one. Heath Ledger plays the Joker with a certain detestable charm but somewhere around the minute mark was something cinema has thrown at us more than beads to a topless chick at Mardi Gras. A giant semi-truck flips over on itself. Wow, haven’t seen that million times before or anything. Shit, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines did that. You really want your film bringing about memories of that movie? Or Fantastic Four?

Apparently there was a 6 or 7 minute prologue of a bank robbery that popped up online this week too. I missed it but from what I am told, they’re “awesome” and “exciting.” I am going to pretend I haven’t seen this trailer yet. So when someone tells me, “Dude! Movie looks so good! I have never seen anything like that before! Batman has never said any of the dialogue in this trailer!”, I’ll play the ignorant card.
